Amateur Telescope Making Awards

The Amateur Telescope Making Awards are presented at the Saturday night meal.

If you have constructed an ATM project, it may well pay to enter into the competition. In 2001 there were no entries into the Best Dobsonian and so that category lapsed that year.

CATEGORIES

  • Best Equatorial Telescope
  • Best Dobsonian Telescope
  • Best Telescope Accessory (must be part of a telescope)
  • Best Observing Aid

RULES

  1. Previous award winning entries are not eligible for re-entry to that category.
  2. Home built telescopes and item only to be entered.
  3. Total of three judges only from different Societies.
  4. Judges cannot have an entry in a category they are judging.
  5. The judges' decision is final.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  1. Materials
  2. Workmanship
  3. Innovation
  4. Useability

JUDGING THE CATEGORIES

Judging will be carried out, using a point system on a scale from 0 to 5 in each of the areas listed above for each category. The highest points score from the three judges will win that category.
